Best iPhone Game Updates: ‘Pocket Card Jockey’, ‘Toon Blast’, ‘Marvel Snap’, ‘Bloons TD 6’, and More
Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. One of those weeks, friends. Shaun didn’t plan his time out properly and now we’re in a pickle. I still managed to find some cool game updates for you to check out. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let’s go for it!
MARVEL SNAP, Free I wrote this one up in painful detail last week when it hit, but Marvel Snap had an update last week that was more about balance adjustments than anything. Darkhawk got his first nerf but perhaps not his last, while a number of other characters got some buffs to try to help them get more play. There are lots of other details, so feel free to check that story if you want more info. Sadly, no new Spider-Mans, so no coveted award this time.
Wylde Flowers, Okay, let’s look at something I don’t know by heart. Wylde Flowers got an update that apparently sees the opening of Violet’s Boutique, which basically amounts to new outfits for Tara. There’s also a new Photo Mode so you can snap some pictures of your adventures, plus a few other goodies. Well, that all sounds nice, doesn’t? You’ll have to fire up the game to get the full gist, though.
Simon's Cat - Story Time, Alright, Simon’s Cat – Story Time. What’s the story time with Story Time this time? Well, Chapter 2 of the Vet Story is available to play now, and you can look forward to twenty five new levels to dig into every week. Naturally we have the usual bug fixes and performance tweaks, plus some improvements to the visuals. That’s the tale of the update for this one, and I assure you that Simon would probably tell it better. But Simon isn’t here, is he? You’re stuck with ol’ Shaun.
Subway Surfers, Free The kids seem to be headed off to Barcelona this time, and I’m sure they’re getting up to some sort of hijinks. There’s a new Surfer named Tutti, and you might have some trouble catching sight of them because they’re kind of invisible. There’s also a new board called Fan-Tastic, and yes, it’s a board with a fan on it. Well, they can’t all be winners. You can get a new outfit for Phoenix called Party Business, and there are some cool events primed for various locations. That should keep people busy for a bit.
Pocket Card Jockey: Ride On!, Sometimes I give out that coveted UMMSotW award a little early in the article, usually when I’m feeling sleepy or I’m in a rush. And wouldn’t you know it? Today I am both! How thrilling! I hope this game’s update is worth it. Oh, there’s a new horse named Prancing Cherub available in the Loaners tab, some skills have been buffed, horses bred on the farm will always have abilities and skills, and the cost for coupling horses on the farm has been lowered. You know, just do the farm thing. The game wants you to. Some bugs have also been fixed. Yes, I think that’s fine enough for the prize. Moving along.
Disney Heroes: Battle Mode, Free Oh no, I should have kept the coveted award! This always happens. You give it out early, and then the next game that comes along has Statler and Waldorf from The Muppets added as playable characters. That isn’t half-bad. It isn’t half-good either! Ha ha ha! Does anyone not like those guys? Pretty weird to see them battling in a Disney game alongside, like, Aladdin and Buzz Lightyear though.
Bloons TD 6, $6.99 There are a couple of updates to look at here but the second one really just fixes up a few bugs that arose from the first. So we’ll just head over to that one. There’s a new expert map called Dark Dungeons, which is another challenge devised by the community itself. For those who want something lighter, there’s a new beginner map named Middle of the Road. Apparently there is also a new Pat Fusty skin named Kaiju Pat. Sure, Kaiju are hot right now. Nice update. The kids will love it.
World of Tanks Blitz - 3D War, Free A few minutes left, hunh? Let’s see if I can get this finished. World of Tanks Blitz has a new branch with five speedy Chinese light tanks. The Tier IX and X vehicles apparently come with the Adaptive Concealment mechanic, which sounds suspiciously like a cloaking device. Is that a thing now? Do… do tanks cloak? I don’t really keep up with the world of tanks. The Middleburg map has seen some visual improvements, a new Carnevale di Blitz event is kicking off, Operation Shrouded Bow is here with adventures aplenty, and there’s a new Rating Sprint event that gives you better rewards for higher Leagues. Hey, I made it under time. Almost home!
Toon Blast, Free Oh no, we haven’t covered the obligatory free-to-play matching puzzle update for this week yet. Foot to the pedal, let’s go. I picked Toon Blast this time because it has indeed been a bit since we’ve looked in on it. As usual there are fifty new levels, and the theme this time is apparently something to do with a Bull’s Eye? Darts? Archery contest? No idea. Maybe the literal eye of a bull? That would be super weird and I don’t know if I’d want it. But they say you shouldn’t give the customer what they think they want, but what they actually want deep in their hearts. Maybe I actually want the literal eye of a bull? No, no. That can’t be. Oh dear, how much time did I waste there? Let’s get to the last one, then.
AFK Arena, Free Good old reliable AFK Arena. The best RPG for busy me! Wow, that fits perfectly today. There’s a new Hypogean hero, Olgath The Baneblast, and you know how this all goes by now. Bountiful Trials, blah blah. There are some new adventures to play, a new beast named Phantasmoth, some UI additions and improvements, and a whole lot of balance tweaks and bug fixes. And that’s it, I’m out of here!
That about wraps it up for last week’s significant updates. I’m sure I’ve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
